Malden Family Medicine Center
The Family Medicine Residency program is housed at our new 80,000
square foot Ambulatory building located at 195 Canal Street in Malden,
just 2 miles from the Whidden campus.
Along with a large family care practice on the first floor, the
facility will include space for group visits and seminars in the
design. Cataldo Ambulance, the city's emergency medical response
agency, has a dispatch garage across the street giving patients
quick access to Whidden Memorial Hospital, if needed.
Like other Alliance sites, the new center has a state-of-the-art
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system linked system-wide. Starting
from day one, residents will work on EMR system allowing them to
assure that their patients achieve highest quality of medical care.
Whidden
campus is a busy community hospital that serves the 200,000
residents of Everett, Revere, Chelsea, Winthrop, and Malden, MA.
As the only hospital in this five-city area, Whidden provides many
services including 24-hour emergency care, surgery, orthopedics,
rehab, specialty care, primary care, and mental health programs.
Recent improvements at Whidden include:
- NEW MRI and 64-slice CT Scanner
- NEW Digital Mammography
- NEW Emergency Department - Opened Summer 2007
- NEW Surgical Specialty Offices
The
Cambridge Maternity Unit is a primary training site for
the resident OB rotations. The Cambridge campus is an extremely
busy hospital site averaging over 1400 deliveries annually. The
new maternity suite, which was expanded in 2005, include spacious
LDR (Labor, delivery, recovery) rooms equipped with a Jacuzzi, refrigerator,
TV and VCR. Most of the rooms also have spectacular views of Boston.
Tufts-New
England Medical Center, Boston
New England Medical Center is located in downtown Boston, adjacent
to the city's Theater District and Chinatown. Tufts-NEMC's state-of-the-art
diagnostic technology, modern facilities for inpatient and outpatient
services and dedicated medical professionals have helped establish
the Medical Center as one of the country's leading medical institutions.
Tufts family practice residents obtain high-risk obstetrics, tertiary-level
intensive care unit, and urban emergency medicine at Tufts-NEMC,
the primary teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine.
Floating
Hospital for Children/ NEMC, Boston
The Floating Hospital for Children at New England Medical Center
is Tufts-NEMC's full-service pediatric facility. The Medical Center's
ability to care for both adults and children at a single institution
is an advantage that enables integration and distinguishes Tufts-NEMC
from other academic medical institutions. First year Tufts family
practice residents spend two months on a busy inpatient pediatrics
ward and part of one month in the Nursery/Neonatal Intensive Care
Unit at Floating. Our residents also benefit from one outpatient
subspecialty pediatrics month obtained there in the second year.
St.
Elizabeth's Medical Center, Boston
St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston has been a Tufts- affiliated
teaching hospital for over 40 years. "St E's" has a very
busy obstetrical service staffed by Tufts FM second year residents
working with third-year obstetrical residents from New England Medical
Center and community-based obstetricians. St E's provides Tufts
residents an academic environment (St E's is in the top 35 hospitals
in the U.S. for NIH research funding) yet has a large community
hospital feel to it. This hospital serves as a bridge between the
academic medical center experience at Tufts-NEMC in the first year
and the continuity maternity care experience throughout the three
years of residency at the Cambridge campus.
Glen
Ridge Nursing Care Center, Malden
The Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center is a state-of-the-art 164-bed
nursing care center built in 1990 across the street from the old
Malden hospital site. Tufts Family Medicine Residents follow their
own patients here with geriatrician Dr. Robert Kass who holds Geriatric
Teaching Rounds on Fridays. Glen Ridge's Medical Director is Tufts
faculty member Dr. Michael Doupé.
